This week, I joined my colleagues to wash the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. Etched in granite are 58,000 names—sons and daughters of America who never came home.

As a 20-year combat veteran and a Colonel in the Air Force, this isn’t just symbolic — it’s personal.
As we look forward to Memorial Day on Monday, I invite you to do the same. Visit a local cemetery. Fly the flag. Say the names of Iowa veterans who gave everything.Â
This Memorial Day, we serve together.
