Nunn Secures $2.5 Million for Water Infrastructure Improvements in Bondurant

DES MOINES — U.S. Representative Zach Nunn (IA-03) today announced that he secured $2.5 million for water infrastructure improvements in Bondurant. This federal investment will support the construction of a new water tower.

“A reliable, low-maintenance, and cost-effective water system that meets the needs of residents is a fundamental necessity and I’m thankful we could deliver this win for Bondurant,” said Rep. Nunn. “Today’s investment will ensure this community can continue to expand for generations to come.”

Rep. Nunn secured $2.5 million through the community project funding process, which allows members to designate funding for critical initiatives. The funding was included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024 that was signed into law on Saturday, March 6, 2024.

“The City of Bondurant extends its deepest gratitude to Congressman Zach Nunn and his staff for their outstanding efforts to secure this critical funding for city water projects,” said Mayor Doug Elrod. “Today’s announcement will play a pivotal role in enhancing our community’s infrastructure and will ensure Bondurant is well-positioned to meet the water demands of today and tomorrow, ensuring a vibrant and sustainable future for our community.”

The $2.5 million will fund the construction of a new, one-million-gallon capacity water tower strategically located along NE 88th Street, just north of Interstate 80. This project will secure enough water storage capacity for both the short- and long-term needs of the City of Bondurant.

Rep. Nunn announced the new funding investment during a press conference at the site of the new Water Tower in Bondurant with Mayor Doug Elrod. Video of the press conference can be found here.
