Nunn Secures $750,000 for Water Infrastructure Improvements in Ankeny

DES MOINES — U.S. Representative Zach Nunn (IA-03) today announced that he secured $750,000 for water storage improvements in Ankeny. This federal investment will support the construction of a new water tower.

“A reliable and safe water system is something families rely on when choosing where to raise their family,” said Rep. Nunn. “I’m glad we could deliver this win for Ankeny and the surrounding community who will benefit from this investment for years to come.”

Rep. Nunn secured $750,000 through the community project funding process, which allows members to designate funding for critical initiatives. The funding was included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024 that was signed into law on Saturday, March 4, 2024.

“On behalf of the City of Ankeny, I’d like to thank Congressman Zach Nunn. This grant funds a vital project outlined in our Water System Master Plan, ensuring improved water storage, more reliable water pressure and distribution reliability,” said Mayor Holm. “Federal funding alleviates the financial strain on residents by offsetting rising utility infrastructure costs, resulting in more manageable rate increases and promoting long-term economic stability.”

The $750,000 will fund the construction of a new 2.5-million-gallon water storage tank. In addition, the funds will help the City of Ankeny’s drinking water distribution system which will enhance reliability, increase capacity, and ensure safe drinking water for the community.

Rep. Nunn announced the new funding investment during a press conference at the site of the new water storage tank with Ankeny Mayor Mark Holm.
