Congressman Zach Nunn Selected for House Financial Services Committee

Washington, D.C. – Representative Zach Nunn (IA-03) today issued the following statement after his appointment to the House Financial Services Committee for the 118th Congress. The Financial Services Committee is one of the top four Congressional Committees and rarely accepts freshman members of Congress. Nunn was singled out by the selection committee as a highly skilled pick and one of only seven GOP freshmen to serve on top-tier committees.

The Financial Services Committee oversees the nation’s financial services sectors including banking, insurance, real estate, public and assisted housing, consumer protection and national security. Des Moines, which is a national hub for insurance, banking, and credit unions, now earns an outsized voice with Nunn in the majority. Financial services are tied to over 40% of the workforce.

“With Des Moines being an influential insurance and financial hub known around the world, I’m honored to be selected to sit on the House Financial Services Committee and intend to be a leading voice for top employers and their employees in our state,” said Rep. Nunn. “On Financial Services, we’ll be prioritizing rebuilding our economy, combatting China’s malign influence and working across the aisle to put Americans back in control of their personal financial data.”

Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, Rep. Patrick McHenry (NC-10), followed by saying, “I’m proud to welcome Congressman Zach Nunn to the Financial Services Committee. Iowa is an insurance powerhouse and I have no doubt Zach will continue to be a strong voice for his constituents in this new capacity. His fresh perspective on the issues facing middle America makes him an outstanding addition to the Committee.”
