These stats are shocking

Violent crime is up. So are police officer retirements and resignations. 2021 was the deadliest year in more than two decades for law enforcement.

According to Gallup, 56% of Americans report more crime in their area, including:

  • Aggravated assaults are up nearly 34% since 2020

  • Rape has increased 23% since 2020

  • Homicides have increased 13% since 2020

This National Police Week, we are recognizing the important and heroic work our police officers do. But that’s not all we’re doing. We’re also passing legislation supporting America’s law enforcement officers:

  • The POLICE Act of 2023 will make assaulting a police officer a deportable offense.

  • The Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act will help fund law enforcement by allowing active federal officers to purchase retired service weapons.

  • H.Con.Res.40 will show support for local law enforcement officers and condemn efforts to defund local law enforcement agencies.

As your representative in Congress, this National Police Week, I also want to know what you think. Do you support funding for law enforcement to crack down on crime? Take my one-question survey to let me know:
