Nunn Hosts Connecting Iowa’s Heroes: Veterans Resource Fair in Johnston

Johnston, IA – U.S. Representative Zach Nunn (IA-03) today hosted the Connecting Iowa’s Heroes: Veterans Resource Fair at the Iowa Gold Star Military Museum in Johnston, Iowa. Nearly 200 veterans and community members attended today’s event to learn more about support from community organizations and government agencies in our area available for returning servicemembers and veterans.

“As a veteran of the Air Force and current member of the Air Force Reserve, I know there is very little that is more important than supporting current servicemembers and providing resources to veterans who have served our country,” said Rep. Nunn. “Today’s event was a huge success thanks to the community organizations that showed up today to help connect Iowa’s veterans with the services they’ve earned.”

Attendees heard updates from Todd Jacobus, Commandant of the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs, Tracie Pinkston, Director of the Iowa Veterans Affairs Regional Office, Katina Mach-Weissenburger, Director of the Des Moines Vet Center, and Lisa Curnes, Director of the VA Central Iowa Health Care Center.

Rep. Nunn’s team of caseworkers helped veterans cut through red tape at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and other government agencies.

The event was open to all veterans, active duty servicemembers, and anyone who supports a veteran.
