Nunn Announces Additional $2.2 Million Federal Investment in Des Moines Infrastructure

DES MOINES — U.S. Representative Zach Nunn (IA-03) today announced that the Des Moines International Airport will receive more than $2 million from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Terminal and Tower Program to fund the construction of the next phase of the new terminal area.

“Travel can be challenging – delays, poor service, and more set travelers back whether they’re headed on vacation or a business trip,” said Rep. Nunn. “The Des Moines Airport is working to improve that. This investment in critical infrastructure will continue to make the travel experience better for all visitors to the Des Moines Airport! I’ll continue to fight to bring back these investments to our community at every opportunity.”

The Des Moines International Airport will receive $2,200,000 from the FAA. The funds will be used for the construction of common use terminal areas, modernizing the infrastructure to support accessibility and efficiency.

“We’re thrilled to receive this federal grant, aiding in transforming the Des Moines International Airport. With enhanced accessibility and operational efficiencies, we’re poised for growth and better connectivity,” said Kevin Foley, Executive Director of the Des Moines Airport Authority. “This investment underscores the shared commitment to delivering a top-tier travel experience in Iowa. We thank our federal partners for their invaluable support.”

Rep. Nunn’s office will review grant support letter requests from residents of Iowa’s Third District who are applying for a specific federal grant. To notify the office that you are applying for a federal grant and request a letter in support of that application, please contact the office at (515) 400-8180.
