Keeping America Moving

Truck drivers keep the American economy moving forward. Yet, across the country, we’re facing a serious shortage of truck drivers, and it’s putting pressure on Iowa families and our nation’s supply chain. That’s why I introduced bipartisan legislation, the Strengthening Supply Chains Through Truck Driver Incentives Act, to get more drivers behind the wheel through targeted tax credits.

Iowa has nearly 38,000 truck drivers who play a key role in supporting Iowa’s agriculture, manufacturing, and logistics sectors – all critical to our state’s economy. This common-sense legislation would support Iowa’s workforce, grow our economy, and bring down costs for every family.

Last year, I was proud to secure a significant federal investment for the Des Moines Area Community College Transportation Institute Education Center and the Indian Hills Community College Truck Driver Education Center.  This legislation builds on these efforts and is a meaningful next step towards supporting truck drivers and addressing this shortage.

Bottom Line: Truck drivers keep America moving. When we get more drivers behind the wheel, we improve our supply chain and lower prices for Iowans.
