Nunn Votes to Deliver Tax Relief, Farm Security, Border Enforcement, and Energy Independence

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Representative Zach Nunn (IA-03) voted in favor of a comprehensive reconciliation package that permanently extends middle-class tax cuts, secures critical wins for Iowa’s farmers, strengthens health and safety-net programs by rooting out waste and fraud, and provides certainty for small businesses.

“This package is a win for Iowa. It extends the largest tax cut in history for working families, delivers historic relief for our farmers and producers, and gives Main Street the confidence it needs to invest, grow, and hire,” said Rep. Nunn. “The bill also safeguards key benefit programs for vulnerable Iowans while eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse. It bolsters border security, restores accountability, and invests in American energy dominance—where Iowa is already leading the charge.”

The reconciliation package contains top priorities advocated for by Rep. Nunn:

  • Establishes a Fully Refundable $5,000 Adoption Tax Credit: Includes a provision championed by Rep. Nunn to make adoption more affordable, helping Iowa families overcome financial barriers to growing their families through adoption.
  • Extends the Child Tax Credit: Builds on the success of the 2017 Trump tax cuts by increasing the credit to $2,500 per child and indexing it to inflation, delivering meaningful, immediate relief for working families across Iowa.
  • Protects Biofuels and Secures American Energy Dominance: Preserves and enhances the Section 45Z tax credit for clean fuel production, ensuring Iowa’s ethanol and biodiesel producers remain competitive, innovative, and central to America’s energy future.
  • Safeguards Vulnerable Iowans on Medicaid and SNAP: Secures protections Rep. Nunn helped maintain for children, pregnant women, seniors, and individuals with disabilities, ensuring they retain access to vital support while fraud and ineligibility are eliminated throughout the system.
  • Protects Healthcare Access for Iowa Kids: Streamlines Medicaid and CHIP enrollment for out-of-state pediatric specialists, based on bipartisan legislation Rep. Nunn championed, making it easier for families to get their children the care they need, faster.
