WASHINGTON, D.C. — Representative Zach Nunn (IA-03) today voted in favor of the reconciliation package to deliver permanent middle-class tax relief, promote a pro-growth tax code, invest in American defense and national security, and strengthen American energy dominance.
“The bill we’re sending to the President’s desk locks in the largest middle-class tax cut in American history. It rewards hard work, fuels growth on Main Street, and puts more money back in the pockets of Iowa families,” said Rep. Nunn. “It protects benefits for our most vulnerable by cutting out waste and fraud, strengthens our national defense by investing in border security, and positions Iowa farmers and producers to lead the charge in delivering affordable, American-made energy.”
The package includes top priorities Rep. Nunn advocated for during the reconciliation process:
- Delivers Middle-Class Tax Relief: Permanently extends the 2017 Trump Tax Cuts and expands the Child Tax Credit to $2,200 per child; ends taxes on tips and overtime.
- Locks in a Pro-Growth Tax Code: Maintains a competitive corporate rate, restores full expensing for R&D and equipment, protects U.S.-based intellectual property, and strengthens incentives to invest, hire, and grow in America.
- Strengthens the Adoption Tax Credit: Includes Rep. Nunn’s bipartisan bill to create a fully refundable $5,000 tax credit for families who adopt a child.
- Protects Iowa’s Most Vulnerable: Includes Rep. Nunn’s resolution to ensure no Medicaid or SNAP cuts for children, pregnant women, seniors, or individuals with disabilities.
- Supports Iowa Farmers: Raises reference prices for corn and soybeans, expands market access, and increases base acreage flexibility for producers.
- Strengthens Rural Healthcare: Establishes a $50 billion stabilization fund to support rural hospitals.
- Bolsters National Defense: Adds $150 billion in defense funding for readiness, modernization, and strategic deterrence capabilities.
- Secures the Southern Border: Provides $170 billion in new investments for physical barriers, border and immigration officer staffing, and enforcement tools.
- Unlocks American Energy Dominance: Expands support for homegrown energy, including Iowa biofuels, invests in critical mineral development and infrastructure, and opens access to responsibly develop domestic oil and gas resources on federal lands to ensure long-term energy independence.
The bill now moves to the President’s desk to be signed into law on Independence Day, July 4th, 2025.
