ATLANTIC, IA — Representative Zach Nunn (IA-03) joined local leaders, families, and community partners in Atlantic to announce a $2.5 million federal investment to expand child care capacity, support working parents, and drive long-term economic growth across Cass County. “This $2.5 million investment is a win for families, workers, and small businesses—and a powerful example of what happens when a community comes together to invest in its future,” said Rep. Nunn. “Expanding access to high-quality child care means parents can stay in the workforce, employers can grow with confidence, and Atlantic can continue building on its momentum.”
During the visit, Rep. Nunn toured Vision Atlantic’s current facilities and the future site of the new child development center, underscoring how the project will help address Cass County’s child care shortage while strengthening the region’s economic foundation for years to come.
Once complete, the new center is expected to:
- Serve up to 300 children ages 0–7, including new preschool classrooms
- Create approximately 100 local jobs
- Support greater workforce participation for parents
- Increase the local tax base by more than $48 million
