We announced HUGE news today for the Des Moines metro area. The City of Des Moines has received a $34 million federal investment to complete the Southeast Connector project! I am proud to have championed bringing crucial federal investment to support this project to improve connectivity, accessibility, and safety in our community.

The more than $34 million grant that was awarded this week will help fund the Southeast Connector Project to:
-
Provide a direct and continuous travel route between SE 30th Street in Des Moines and US 65 in Pleasant Hill;
-
Create a new rail facility, which is crucial to expanding industry across the state; and
-
Bolster community safety by eliminating the need to cross multiple railroad tracks along the route.
This is exactly the kind of infrastructure project in which the federal government should be investing. With the support from this grant funding, the project will promote continued growth and drive economic prosperity for the area.
