In the Air Force, I didn’t ask what party my brothers and sisters in uniform belonged to before we began our mission – and that’s the same approach I use in Congress.
Unfortunately – not everyone feels the same way. We have far too many “so-called” representatives serving in the House of Representatives and Senate more focused on appearing on a Sunday morning talk show than delivering results for their constituents.
Luckily, I’ve been able to make a few friends here who do want to work across the aisle to get things done – like Nikki Budzinski from Illinois. As members of the Agriculture Committee, we’ve been fighting to deliver a Farm Bill for Iowa and Illinois farmers, producers, and rural communities.
Despite our hard work, we know it takes more than the House of Representatives to pass a Farm Bill. While we’ve done our part to move forward with a bipartisan bill, the Senate hasn’t even gone so far as to jot down on a napkin their plan for a Farm Bill. This is unacceptable. We need the Senate to come to the table and be a good-faith negotiator so we can deliver for Iowa.
I’ll keep pushing for a bipartisan Farm Bill and commonsense results for Iowa families.
