As your Congressman, I’m on a mission to make D.C. just a little bit more like Iowa. That means using common sense and delivering results for Iowans. It hasn’t always made me the most popular guy – with Democrats or Republicans – but I’ve worked hard to find mission-focused battle buddies to ensure we’re making D.C. work for Iowans. In fact – my work earned me a spot on the Top Ten Most Bipartisan Members of Congress list.
Unfortunately, some folks in D.C. aren’t as focused on results. We have too many so-called “representatives” who’d rather get their five minutes of fame on the Sunday talk shows than do what’s right for their constituents. Unlike these Members, I’m focused on cleaning up our nation’s capital.
In Congress, I’ve fought back against D.C. corruption to ensure that D.C. is working for the people they represent, not their own interests:
- On my very first day in Congress, I introduced a balanced budget amendment to get D.C. back to living within its means just like Iowa families.
- Members of Congress shouldn’t be using the information they’re given to trade individual stocks. That’s why I introduced the Prohibit Insider Trading Act to prevent Members from trading stocks and hold those who break the rules accountable.
- Congress shouldn’t be a stepping stone to getting rich, so I’m leading bills to ban politicians from becoming lobbyists and preventing automatic pay raises for Members of Congress.
This is just the start – there’s still more to be done. As one of the top ten most bipartisan Members of Congress, I’m committed to reaching across the aisle to deliver results for Iowans. If you have an idea or an issue I should work on, please share your priorities with me now:
