đź’°Pressing the Fed

I brought Iowa’s economic concerns straight to the top.

At today’s Financial Services Committee hearing, I questioned Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell on how rising interest rates and lingering inflation are still hitting Iowans — whether it’s buying a first home or keeping a family farm afloat.

Zoom out: We’ve made progress. Take-home pay is rising. Prices for essentials have begun to stabilize. And with President Trump’s pro-growth policies back in play, the middle class is finally starting to recover. But that’s not the full picture. For far too long, Iowa families have paid more for groceries, gas, and housing — all while watching their savings shrink and credit card bills climb.

That’s why I asked Chairman Powell how we can work with the Trump administration to ensure D.C.’s monetary policy actually benefits Iowa’s Main Streets and family farms.

Bottom Line: Iowans deserve an economy that works for them — not against them. I’ll keep fighting for pro-growth, pro-family policies that restore fiscal sanity and ease the burden on Iowa households.
