Serving in the United States Air Force for over two decades taught me lessons I carry in Washington every day: Duty, discipline, and the power of service.
Now, one of my greatest privileges is helping Iowa students pursue a similar path by nominating them to a U.S. Service Academy.
Four academies — West Point, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, and the Merchant Marine Academy — require applicants to receive at least one Congressional nomination.
Students in Iowa’s 3rd District: The deadline to apply is Friday, October 17. This process is highly competitive, but with preparation and determination, it can open the door to a lifetime of service and leadership.

Bottom Line: Attending a U.S. Service Academy is about more than a college education—it’s an opportunity to serve, lead, and grow character that lasts a lifetime.
