WATCH: Nunn Honors TSA and FAA Workers Who Kept Iowa Moving During Shutdown

DES MOINES, IA — On Monday, Representative Zach Nunn (IA-03) joined TSA agents, air traffic controllers, FAA personnel, and airport officials at Des Moines International Airport (DSM) to recognize federal aviation professionals who kept Iowa skies safe without pay during the recent government shutdown.

“While a handful of Senators chose to play politics in Washington, Iowa’s aviation professionals showed up and stepped up,” said Rep. Nunn. “TSA and FAA teams at DSM worked without pay, under extraordinary stress, and with no certainty of when the shutdown would end. That’s a credit to their dedication and exactly the kind of public service Washington should strive to emulate.”

During the visit, Rep. Nunn presented Iowa Medals of Merit and Certificates of Appreciation to staff whose dedication kept Iowa’s largest airport operating without major delays and ensured travelers remained safe throughout a national crisis.
