Health care touches every Iowa family — whether it’s a routine checkup, an unexpected emergency, or a monthly prescription. Yet too many Iowans are paying more while getting less.
Zoom out: Since 2014, premiums on the government health care exchanges have risen nearly twice as fast as employer-based insurance — and private plans haven’t been spared. No matter how you get coverage — through work, the ACA, or an individual plan — Iowans are paying more and access keeps shrinking.
The problem: Washington continues pouring billions into subsidies that prop up a broken system instead of fixing what’s driving costs up. The result? Longer wait times, fewer choices, and higher out-of-pocket costs for working families who just want the care they’ve already paid for.
What we’re doing: I fought to secure $50 billion to support rural hospitals and protect care close to home — because no Iowan should have to drive hours for basic medical services. And that’s just the start. We’re advancing real, commonsense solutions to lower costs, expand access, and put patients – not bureaucrats – back in charge. ⬇️
Bottom Line: Iowa families deserve a health care system that works for patients — not one that pads profits and leaves Iowans behind. I’ll keep fighting for solutions to lower costs, protect rural care, and put Iowans first.
