WASHINGTON, D.C. — Representative Zach Nunn (IA-03) met with Iowa farmers, ranchers, and producers in Red Oak on Friday for a roundtable discussion focused on delivering long-term certainty for Iowa agriculture. B-roll video from the discussion is available here and below.
“I was glad to join Red Oak producers for another roundtable to hear directly about their priorities and share an update on the fight we’re leading in Washington to deliver real certainty for Iowa agriculture,” said Rep. Nunn. “From year-round E15 to a farm bill producers can actually rely on, Iowans were clear about what they need, and I’m taking those priorities straight to Washington.”
During the roundtable at AgriVision Equipment, producers raised concerns about rising input costs, supply chain pressures, and the strain family farms face without stable markets and clear, consistent federal policy.
“We had a great meeting with Congressman Nunn on Friday afternoon in Red Oak. It is clear that he has the best interests of Iowans at heart and is striving to do what he can to make sure that our farms and families can thrive in the future,” said Krista Huntsman, Montgomery County Farm Bureau President. “One topic that we were pleased to discuss was his support for year-round E15 sales. Farmers depend on a variety of market outlets to sell their products at profitable prices, and having E15 markets as a cornerstone is critical. Not only is it good for the environment, but it’s good for farmers’ bottom lines as well. Congressman Nunn also acknowledged that bridge payments from the government are not a sustainable way to operate our family farms, and that increased trade and fair market prices are necessary to make farming a strong livelihood for Iowa families again.”
Rep. Nunn emphasized that the message from producers in Red Oak mirrors what he’s hearing across Iowa and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing agriculture priorities in Washington, including:
- Expanding reliable markets for Iowa crops and biofuels, including the fight for year-round E15
- Working with the Treasury Department to provide clarity on 45Z guidance for producers and biofuel stakeholders
- Advancing a strong farm bill that reflects the realities of Iowa agriculture and rural communities
