🌽 Giving Farmers Fertilizer Transparency

Planting season is around the corner.

And right now, Iowa’s 87,000 family farms are making critical decisions about what to plant, where to invest, and how to prepare for harvest without the information they need to plan ahead with confidence.

The problem: The Department of Agriculture only reports fertilizer pricing data once a year. With input costs rising and markets constantly shifting, that’s simply not enough for farmers making real-time decisions that impact their bottom line.

What’s new: We just introduced the Fertilizer Transparency Act to give farmers fertilizer price and sales data every week — not once a year — so they can make informed decisions when it matters most.

And last week, we secured another win for Iowa agriculture when the EPA approved a waiver allowing for year-round, nationwide E15. ⬇️

Why it matters: When farmers don’t have clear price signals, they can’t plan ahead or plant with confidence. I’ve heard this directly from Iowans across our 21 counties during listening sessions — and it’s why I’m focused on delivering real, practical tools that help producers stay ahead, not fall behind.

Bottom Line: Farmers deserve certainty heading into planting season. I’ll keep listening to Iowans and fighting for the tools farmers need to plan, invest, and compete.
