WHAT:
Rep. Nunn will announce federal funding to support the Phase 2 expansion of the Ember Recovery Campus, led by Youth & Shelter Services (YSS). The project will increase supportive housing capacity and add dedicated workforce training, wellness, and recovery infrastructure — helping young Iowans facing homelessness, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders build long-term stability and successfully transition into the workforce.
The announcement builds on Rep. Nunn’s ongoing efforts to combat the opioid and fentanyl crisis facing Iowa communities, including his Communities of Recovery Reauthorization Act, bipartisan legislation to more than triple federal funding for community-based recovery programs like those offered by the Ember Recovery Campus. President Trump signed the bill into law in December 2025 as part of the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Reauthorization Act.
