For 11 days every August, the best of Iowa comes together in one place. The livestock barns fill up, the Grandstand lights turn on, and the smell of something fried pulls you halfway across the fairgrounds before you even know what’s on the stick.
The great Iowa State Fair is officially underway!
The fairgrounds will tell Iowa’s story. You’ll see months of dedication enter the show ring with Iowa’s 4-H and FFA members, homegrown ideas that turned into thriving small businesses, and the agriculture that feeds and fuels the world.
The Fair is also about more than what’s on the fairgrounds. It’s where families return to the same traditions year after year, old friends run into each other on the Grand Concourse, and neighbors from every corner of our state come together as Iowans.
Like so many of you, I grew up going to the Iowa State Fair. I’m excited to be back this week with Kelly and our six kids to catch up with Iowans from across our state and make new memories.
