Like many Iowans, I’m worried about the rate of fentanyl overdoses in Iowa:
-
The Iowa Department of Public Health reports that over the last two years, they have seen a 34% increase in drug overdose deaths, due mostly to opioids, with fentanyl implicated in 83% of the statewide opioid deaths last year.
-
Among young Iowans under 25 years of age, drug overdose deaths increased by 120% over the last two years.
This growing issue harming Iowans is mainly a result of China’s fentanyl operation and money laundering. That’s why I’m taking new steps in the Financial Services Committee to cut off China’s financing and stop the flow of fentanyl into our country.
