As Iowans pinch pennies, I am not going to allow each member of Congress to get a $7,000+ pay raise this year →
That’s why I have introduced a bill to end automatic yearly salary increases for Members of Congress. With historically high inflation making everything more expensive for Iowans, Members of Congress should not be allowed to cash in on the taxpayer dime as the people they are meant to serve struggle.
This legislation will help make elected officials more accountable to taxpayers:
-
The bill ends the automatic yearly salary increase Members of Congress receive.
-
The bill would save $3+ million of taxpayer dollars – just this year.
From day one in Congress, I have fought to ensure we are putting efficient, effective, and good government policies forward to make the federal government function more like the fiscally-sound policies Iowa has enacted. This is one more step forward in that mission.
