As a veteran of the Air Force and current member of the Air Force Reserve, I know there’s few things more important than defending freedom and democracy. This means also standing with our allies, including the endangered country of Taiwan, in order to defend democracy worldwide.
To continue standing up to China, we need to support the democracy of Taiwan from Communist China. That’s why I voted today to stand with the people of Taiwan in their fight to defend their sovereign country:
-
We voted to strengthen the Taiwan Assurance Act of 2020, a bipartisan law that deepened US-Taiwan relations by establishing more official diplomatic relations.
-
Now, we’re providing more frequent oversight as we work to protect the country of Taiwan from the Communist Party of China, including periodic reviews and updated reports on U.S. – Taiwan relations.
This is just the start to holding China accountable on the world playing field and defending our ally Taiwan.
