Homicides are up 13%. Aggravated assaults are up 33.89% in urban areas across the country. Police officers killed by gunfire have risen by 32% since 2020.
To help ensure safer communities, this week I voted to stand with law enforcement against the dangerous defund the police movement. The bill we passed blocks radical anti-police policies that have caused hundreds of police officers to leave the force and allowed crime to run rampant.
Instead of impeding the work of our police officers, we should be providing our nation’s law enforcement with the tools and training they need to do their job at peak performance. I’ll keep fighting to back the blue by doing exactly that.
