When it comes to Social Security and Medicare, elected officials have repeatedly failed the American people. From scare tactics, to threatening cuts, to ignoring the impending insolvency, there has been insufficient leadership on both sides to fight for these earned retirement benefits that Iowans are counting on.
Iowans deserve better than politics as usual when it comes to vital programs like Social Security and Medicare.
Case in point: Social Security and Medicare Trustees indicated that, if the status quo stays the same, Medicare will be insolvent by 2028 and Social Security will be insolvent by 2035. This is absolutely unacceptable.
My promise to every Iowan is that I will fight to defend Social Security and Medicare, prevent cuts for Iowa’s seniors, and ensure these benefits are here for generations to come.
