Twenty-two years ago our country experienced tragedy like we had never known. When terrorists attempted to tear us down, we saw a nation rise together to stand for freedom, democracy, and hope.
In the aftermath, America stood together resolved to help our fallen friends. We were inspired to serve – in the Armed Forces, as a first responder, or rebuilding America. Like so many patriots, I was inspired to serve in the decades that followed. Even in the face of seemingly unbearable loss, this event was evidence that we should never doubt American’s resolve to forge a better future.
As we reflect on this day, I hope you will join me in remembering the strength of our country and what it means to be an American!
