As a 20-year member of the United States Air Force, one of the highest honors I have serving you in Congress is the opportunity to nominate high school students to attend one of the U.S. Service Academies. My time in the military has been transformative for my own life, and I’m proud to be able to help other young people have the same experience.
Four of the five Service Academies (West Point, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, and the Merchant Marine Academy) require applicants to receive a least one nomination from a representative or senator to complete their application. Students applying to the Coast Guard Academy do not require Congressional nomination.
For students seeking U.S. Service Academy nominations in Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District, I want to make sure you are aware that the deadline to apply for nomination with our office is Friday, October 20, 2023.
