My wife and I have six young children – we understand the struggle to balance work and being a parent that is real for so many Iowans. Access to quality, affordable childcare is critical for parents. However, there continues to be a daycare shortage both in Iowa and nationwide.
I’m working across the aisle to increase access to high-quality, affordable childcare for parents in Iowa and across the country.
The Small Business Child Care Investment Act will allow non-profit childcare providers to participate in Small Business Administration (SBA) loan programs. This simple change will allow thousands of daycare facilities to hire more staff, upgrade their facilities, and ultimately, expand their operations.
Bottom line: Addressing the national daycare shortage is good for parents, good for children, and good for our society.
