With inflation still sky-high, fuel costs are undoubtedly a burden on Iowa’s families and small businesses. In Iowa, we have a homegrown way to counter this issue while also supporting American energy independence: biofuels.
The biofuels industry drives Iowa’s economy, contributing more than $7.2 billion to Iowa’s GDP and $3.5 billion in income to Iowa households. The industry supports 57,000 jobs with nearly every other row of corn going into biofuels.
That’s why I just introduced new, bipartisan legislation to lower energy costs and expand American energy independence by supporting this critical industry:
The bipartisan Ag BIO Act will eliminate bureaucratic red tape that is driving up energy costs by making it harder for biofuels producers to innovate and expand their manufacturing capacity. I’m fighting to get this bill passed ASAP to help Iowa’s families.
