On this Memorial Day, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on those heroes who answered the call and made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom. More than 26,000 Iowans have been killed in action – including Red Oak’s Corporal Deagan Page who tragically died during the withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Today, let us remember that freedom is not free. There are men and women every day who sign up to serve, and who go to work not knowing if they will make it back home to their loved ones. Without the brave, America could not be the Land of the Free.
