Iowa farmers feed and fuel America, but our farmland is currently at risk of being snatched up by the Chinese Communist Party! According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, China owns 384,000 acres of American farmland and some of those acres are right here in the Heartland. What’s even more shocking is China is purchasing this land close to military bases and installations.
Not only is this a direct threat to our food security – it’s also a national security threat. That’s why today I introduced the bipartisan Foreign Investment Transparency and Accountability Act to strengthen oversight of foreign investment across the United States, address concerns over foreign land purchases, and bolster America’s national security.
With that in mind – I need to know the answer to this quick one-question survey:
Do you think China buying U.S. farmland is a risk to our national security or family farms?
