A special thank you for Dallas County Dispatchers

More than six months ago, our community was shaken by a tragic attack at Perry High School. Every single law enforcement officer, healthcare professional, and dispatcher involved that day helped save lives with their courageous and rapid responses.

I stopped by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office today to honor Sheriff Infante and the 9-1-1 dispatchers for their service in January. It was a privilege to honor these dedicated public servants with the Iowa Medal of Merit.

Law enforcement will be the first to tell you they were “just doing their jobs,” but we owe them a great deal of gratitude for their work. Without their willingness to run into danger, our community would not be safe.
