Wow – it has been a great year at the Iowa State Fair!
Each year, we come together to celebrate Iowa’s farmers, ranchers, and producers at the State Fair. This last week, I spent time talking with FFA kids, 4Hers, and farmers from across our state. I even fired up the grill at the Iowa Pork Producer Tent and served some homegrown Iowa porkchops.
As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, I’m fighting for a Farm Bill that delivers for Iowa’s producers. Earlier this year, I voted to pass a bipartisan Farm Bill that includes Iowa’s priorities, including:
- Bolstering commodity programs and strengthening crop insurance that are critical for Iowa’s farmers
- Increasing access to credit, grants, and loans to improve infrastructure for rural communities
- Expanding cybersecurity resources for agribusinesses and prohibiting our adversaries from purchasing farmland here in Iowa
- Supporting disaster recovery and flood mitigation while applying Iowa common sense to efforts to protect our natural lands
- Securing energy independence by expanding access to biofuels and locking in year-round E15
Bottom Line: I won’t stop fighting for a commonsense Farm Bill that puts Iowa farmers, ranchers, and producers first.
