Every 40 seconds, someone loses their life to suicide. As a father, I never want my kids, their friends, classmates, or any person to feel so hopeless that they ultimately decide to take their own life.

While in Congress, I’ve fought to expand mental health services for our community:
- Investing in a mental health and substance abuse support by securing $750,000 federal investment for the Polk County Life Services Center
- Reducing veteran suicide by passing bipartisan legislation to support mental health programs for America’s veterans
- Supporting rural communities by leading bipartisan legislation to expand mental health support and resources in agricultural areas
- Preventing youth suicide by introducing bipartisan legislation to train educators on the risk factors that lead to suicidal thoughts
Bottom Line: Any life lost to suicide is one too many.
