My wife and I have six young children. We understand the struggle to balance work and being a parent that is real for so many Iowans. Access to quality, affordable childcare is critical for parents.
Daycare, after school programs, and other forms of childcare are pretty expensive. The average cost consumes 10% of a couple’s income. We need to do more to bring much-needed relief to working parents.
That’s why I cosponsored the Combatting High Inflation Limiting Daycare Act (CHILD) Act to give parents more flexibility and financial assistance to cover childcare expenses through their Dependent Care Flexible Savings Accounts (DCFSAs), including afterschool programs, daycare, and more.
Here’s the bottom line: Addressing the childcare shortage is good for kids, parents, and our country.
