Allow me to introduce Jeremy Lindquist, Mayor of Runnells and member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #33! Here’s a quick rundown of everything Jeremy does for our community:
- He’s the Director of Training and Education for the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #33, in Des Moines, Iowa. As director, Jeremy plays a key role in developing the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
- With a passion for workforce development and hands-on training, Jeremy has dedicated his career to ensuring high-quality education and apprenticeship programs for Plumbers and Steamfitters.
- As Mayor of Runnells, he is committed to fostering community growth and improving local infrastructure.
- Finally, Jeremy is a husband to his wife, Melissa, and dad to their children, Gunner and Madison.
I am honored to host Jeremy for President Trump’s Joint Address tonight. We both look forward to hearing how President Trump plans to get our economy back on track and put the American worker first.

During my time in Congress, I’ve fought to support skilled trades training and promote pathways to success that are good for students, employers, and our communities:
- Training more nurses by leading bipartisan legislation to help colleges hire more nursing educators
- Investing in CDL programs by securing $1 million for the Des Moines Area Community College Transportation Institute Education Center and the Indian Hills Community College Truck Driver Education Center
- Fighting to strengthen our workforce by championing the CAREERS Act to support training opportunities in rural communities
- Promoting apprenticeships by cosponsoring the Strengthening Youth Apprenticeships Act to connect students to hands-on learning opportunities
