America’s foreign adversaries use every tool they can to undermine national interests, including right here on our college campuses. From stealing cutting-edge research to pushing propaganda and silencing free speech, our universities are on the frontlines of this threat.

That’s why I voted to pass the DETERRENT Act, a bipartisan bill that will help protect students in Iowa and across the country from malicious foreign influence. I’ll keep fighting to ensure that our universities are not helping the hidden agendas of foreign adversaries, like the Chinese Communist Party, to threaten U.S. national security.
Bottom Line: Iowa’s students deserve a high-quality education – free from undue foreign influence – that prepares them for success in their careers.
