Speaker Johnson said it best last week: “It takes a lot longer to build a lie than to tell the simple truth.”Â
There’s been a lot of spin out there, but Iowans deserve straight answers. The bill President Trump signed into law last week delivers major wins — from lower taxes to a stronger safety net for farmers — and we’re setting the record straight.
📺 Watch my interview with Jon Scott to hear how this bill helps Iowa families, farmers, and Main Street businesses:
True vs False. What’s in the bill, and what isn’t.
âś… True:
-
- Delivers the largest tax cut in American history
- Secures our southern border and enhances military readiness
- Protects Medicaid and SNAP for those who rely on it
- Invests $50 billion in rural hospitals
- Backs Iowa’s farmers with long-term certainty
- Invests in American energy dominance
❌ False:
-
- “Kicks people off Medicaid” — Flat out false. Our bill makes sure only eligible individuals have access to the program, strengthening it for vulnerable Iowans.
- “Only benefits the wealthy” — Again, false. The average Iowan will receive a $1,500 tax cut, and no taxes on tips or overtime directly benefits working class Iowans.
- “Explodes the deficit” — Wrong. It’s actually the largest reduction in government spending since World War II — saving taxpayers $1.6 trillion by cutting waste, not benefits.
Bottom Line: This reconciliation package is a strong step forward — strengthening our economy, securing the border, and supporting Iowa families. I’ll keep working every day to make sure your tax dollars are spent wisely and your voice is heard in Washington.
