đź”’ Social Security Secured

This week marks 90 years since Social Security was signed into law — a program that’s delivered peace of mind, security, and dignity to generations of Americans.

This week, I joined a bipartisan resolution in Congress honoring that milestone and recommitting to protect Social Security for the next generation.

Why it matters: Whether you’re receiving benefits now or still paying in, Social Security is a promise. Iowans deserve the benefits they’ve earned — and future retirees deserve to know that promise will be there for them too.

But we didn’t just mark the anniversary in Washington, we were on the ground hearing directly from Iowans at the State Fair.

At the AARP tent on the Grand Concourse, I shook hands with seniors and advocates to talk about what matters most:

🧾 No taxes on Social Security — We discussed the newly signed reconciliation bill that protects benefits from being taxed. That’s a win I was proud to help deliver.

⚠️ Cracking down on senior scams — We also shared updates on legislation I’m leading to stop fraudsters from targeting older Iowans. Our bill brings together federal agencies to strengthen enforcement and support for victims.

💬 And most importantly, I listened — We heard from folks worried about the cost of living, scam calls, and keeping Social Security strong for the next generation.

Bottom Line: Whether it’s in the halls of Congress or by the Grandstand at the Fair, I’ll keep listening to Iowa seniors — and fighting to make sure Social Security is secure for the next generation.
