This week, the House passed the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) — and we led more amendments than any other Member of Congress to strengthen our military, counter global threats, and keep Iowa communities safe.
Why it matters: America’s enemies are getting bolder, more dangerous, and more advanced. From Iranian proxy attacks to Russia’s war in Ukraine and the Chinese Communist Party’s military buildup — the threats are real, and they’re rising.
🎥 I called out those threats — and the investments we need to defeat them — on the House floor this week. ⬇️
Advancing peace through strength starts here at home. It means protecting Iowa’s Guard troops deployed in the Middle East, backing allies like Israel and Taiwan, and giving Iowa’s defense workforce the tools to lead the fight.
That’s why I included nine bipartisan amendments in this year’s defense bill to:
✅ Integrate private-sector tech expertise into military operations
✅ Strengthen Iowa’s defense workforce and streamline procurement
✅ Stand with Israel and Taiwan through closer security coordination
✅ Confront authoritarian regimes that continue to threaten global security
Bottom Line: Freedom isn’t free. As a 20-year combat veteran, I will always fight to support our troops, defend our nation, and keep Iowa safe.
