Artificial Intelligence (AI) is everywhere right now. From President Trump’s push to supercharge American leadership to the tools already reshaping our classrooms and workspaces, it’s clear this technological revolution is here to stay.Â
Zoom out: America’s AI industry is booming — valued at more than $750 billion today and projected to grow to over $3.6 trillion within a decade. That growth means new opportunities, but also serious risks. Last year alone, Americans lost more than $12 billion to AI-powered scams, and the threat is only getting worse.Â
The problem: Our adversaries are weaponizing AI to manipulate markets, spread propaganda, and flood social media with false and misleading content. Here at home, scammers are using it to target elderly Iowans, steal their hard-earned savings, and put families’ livelihoods at risk.Â
Today, I joined a House Financial Services Committee hearing to share our plan for advancing AI the right way — encouraging innovation while putting guardrails in place to prevent fraud and protect Iowans. ⬇️
The solution: Our bipartisan AI Plan Act directs federal agencies to crack down on AI-driven scams, protect our markets, and keep Americans safe. It’s a commonsense plan that empowers innovators to build the future of AI right here in America, while defending Iowans from fraud, foreign manipulation, and government overreach.
Bottom Line: We’re putting Iowa commonsense to work to harness AI’s potential, stop abuse, and make sure this technological revolution serves our communities — not the other way around.
