It’s day 20 of the government shutdown — and the consequences are hitting home.
Senate Democrats have voted 10 times to block funding for our troops, stall government services, and leave thousands of Iowa families in limbo.
Back up: One month ago yesterday, I helped pass a continuing resolution to keep the government open, fund food assistance for Iowa’s most vulnerable, and pay our troops.
Instead of working with us, 45 Senate Democrats voted no — triggering this shutdown.

Across the country — and here at home — the Democrat Shutdown is creating real pain:
❌ Delayed paychecks — Over 2.1 million federal workers and 15,000 Iowa Guardsmen aren’t sure when they’ll get their next paycheck.
❌ Critical programs at risk — SNAP, Head Start, small business loans, and farm assistance face imminent funding cliffs.
❌ Airport chaos — TSA agents and FAA staff are working without pay, increasing delays and safety risks.
This shutdown was completely avoidable. Instead, political brinkmanship in Washington is threatening livelihoods, delaying essential programs, and putting our national security at risk — while asking hardworking Iowans to pay the price.
