❌ 32 Days In

It’s been 32 days since Washington shut down, and what started as political posturing has turned into real pain for Iowa families, farmers, and federal workers.

Back up: The House passed a clean, nonpartisan funding bill to avert a government shutdown more than a month ago —  but a partisan group of Senate Democrats have voted the measure down 13 times, and chose gridlock over governing for the American people.

Over the past 32 days, the impacts have gone from bad to worse. Today across Iowa:

❌ Federal workers missed their second paycheck

❌ SNAP benefits for 131,000 Iowa households lapsed

❌ WIC funding for 62,609 individuals was diminished

❌ Farmers are dealing with market uncertainty while USDA programs remain frozen

While some play political games, we’ve been listening to Iowans and bringing your good ideas to Washington to bring this unnecessary shutdown to an end.

Pay Our Troops Act — Guaranteeing pay for servicemembers during shutdowns

Keep WIC Working Act — Continuing food benefits for over 62,000 Iowans

Keep SNAP Funded Act — Preventing disruptions to vital food assistance programs

Letter to the Trump administration — Putting Iowa soybeans front and center in trade negotiations

Bottom Line: The shutdown isn’t just a headline on the nightly news — it’s a real problem that’s hurting Iowans. We’re fighting to end the dysfunction and get D.C. back to work for Iowa.
