After 43 days of gridlock and political games in Washington, I’m proud to share that the government is finally reopening.
Today, I voted to pass a bill that reopens the government and gets long-overdue support to Iowa’s families, farmers, and frontline workers.
This package includes real wins for Iowans that I’ve fought for throughout the shutdown:
✅ Government funding extended through early 2026
✅ 3 bipartisan, full-year appropriations bills supporting ag producers and veterans
✅ Over $3 million in community project funding secured for Iowa’s 3rd District
✅ Essential resources for servicemembers, food assistance, federal workers, small businesses, and farmers
But let’s be clear: this bill should’ve passed in September. I voted for it then — and again today — because Iowans should never be collateral damage in Washington’s partisan fights.
Throughout the gridlock, every servicemember, volunteer, and first responder I met shared two things: frustration with Washington and pride in how Iowans stepped up to help one another.
Now that funding is restored, federal services are restarting — but I know many Iowans are still feeling the impact. If you, a friend, or a family member needs help with delayed benefits, passports, or any federal agency, we’re here to help.

Bottom Line: Washington’s gridlock hurt hardworking Iowans — and it should never happen again. Now that the government is finally open, I’m focused on ensuring it stays that way — and on delivering real results for Iowa families, farmers, and servicemembers.
