💰 Protecting Your Money

From farmers buying seed online to seniors managing their bank accounts at home, technology is reshaping how Iowans handle their money — and scammers are taking advantage of the gaps in our laws that haven’t kept pace.

That’s why I’ve made protecting Iowa families from fraud a top priority by modernizing protections to stop fraud before it reaches our communities.

Back up: Earlier this year, the House passed my bipartisan Financial Technology Protection Act — a major step forward in cracking down on cybercrime in digital finance — from crypto scams to online payment fraud. Here’s what it delivers: ⬇️

This is a big win for Iowans who rely on digital tools — but it’s only the beginning.

Why it matters: In 2023, over 13,000 Iowa seniors were targeted by scams, losing $42.6 million. When local law enforcement lacks the tools or training to stop these criminals, families can see their entire life savings vanish in an instant.

That’s why we’re pushing forward with our bipartisan GUARD Act — giving local law enforcement the tools they need to trace scams, hold criminals accountable,  and safeguard Iowans’ hard-earned savings.

Bottom Line: Technology is reshaping how Iowans save, spend, and invest. I’m working to make sure it empowers Iowa families — not criminals. We’ll keep fighting to protect your money and your peace of mind.
