🚔 Backing the Badge

Every day, Iowa’s law enforcement officers hug their kids, kiss their loved ones goodbye, and head out the door knowing they may be putting themselves in harm’s way to keep communities safe. It’s one of the toughest and most selfless jobs in America. And far too often, their sacrifice goes unrecognized.

That’s why Law Enforcement Appreciation Day matters. Backing the blue means more than saying “thank you.” It means making sure those who wear the uniform have the respect, resources, and support they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.

Over the past year, we’ve kept that promise — and it’s working. Across the country:

🚨 Murder rates are down 20%

🚗 Carjackings have dropped 25%

🏠 Robberies declined by 18%

We’re building on this momentum with commonsense, bipartisan legislation to fill in the gaps and help Iowa law enforcement officers on the front lines keep our communities safe:

Our More Funding for COPS Act would boost hiring and resources for small and rural law enforcement departments.

Our Retired Law Enforcement Officers Continuing Service Act would allow departments to hire retired officers for support roles so active officers can stay on the streets.

Bottom Line: On Law Enforcement Appreciation Day — and every day — I’ll keep backing the blue with action, not just words. Our law enforcement officers put everything on the line for us. These heroes deserve nothing less.
