🏡 Homes Within Reach

Sky-high energy costs and D.C. red tape are driving up housing prices — and it’s putting the dream of homeownership out of reach for too many Iowans.

Zoom in: Nearly 40% of Iowa renters spend more than a third of their income just to keep a roof over their heads. And today, the average first-time homebuyer is 40 years old.

This week, the House passed the Affordable HOMES Act to roll back costly federal housing regulations — and I’m pushing a broader bipartisan package to:

🏠 Expand housing options for Iowa families

🛠️ Help homeowners repair, upgrade, and stay in their homes

📈 Make federal housing programs work for rural Iowa — not just big cities

Why it matters: One-size-fits-all federal mandates and big investors are rigging the system — rewarding those who bought their homes decades ago while punishing young families, veterans, and workers trying to build a future in Iowa.

What’s new: This week, President Trump announced a new plan to block hedge funds and large investors from snapping up single-family homes. That’s a step in the right direction — and proof that Washington can act when it puts families first.

Bottom Line: No Iowan should have to wait years or stretch every paycheck just to own a home. I’m fighting to bring the American Dream within reach — right here in Iowa.
