This morning, veterans from across Iowa came together at the State Capitol to be recognized and advocate for the services that matter most — access to VA care, mental health support, and a strong transition back to civilian life.
As a combat veteran and Air Force Colonel, I understand the sacrifice that service demands. I’m proud to call myself a veteran, and even prouder to serve Iowa’s veterans in Congress.
That’s why Team Nunn was on-site at the Capitol today — to listen, engage, and serve those who served.
Why it matters: These conversations shape the policies we’re fighting for — bringing veterans’ voices directly to the halls of Congress.
We’re already taking action: ⬇️
✅ Daniel J. Harvey and Adam Lambert Improving Servicemember Transition Act — Creating a pilot program focused on mental health counseling to combat the veterans’ suicide crisis.
✅ CHAMP VA Filing Extension Act — Extending the filing window for health benefits to ensure our veterans receive the benefits they’ve earned.
✅ Veterans Claims Education Act — Connecting veterans to trusted, VA-accredited assistance and cracking down on fraud targeting those who served.
I was proud to speak at the House Veterans Affairs Committee today about Daniel Harvey and Adam Lambert’s stories — and how investing in early intervention and mental health support will help save lives.
Bottom Line: Iowa’s veterans stepped up to defend this country. I’ll keep fighting to make sure their service is met with real support and real results.
